Stunning Shots – Hydrangea
My favorite Hydrangea color is blue, almost lavender. Periwinkle. It’s such a gorgeous hue. I’m a bit partial to it. I love the color against the green of the Hydrangea leaves.
When we planned out the landscaping for our home I had to have hydrangeas. Had to. We planted one on the front corner of the house and I couldn’t wait for it to take over the area with it’s gorgeous blooms. But 3 years into it, I still did not see my dream bush full of flowers.
What color are your Hydrangea?
I was extremely ignorant about the care of the plant. I was cutting it back each year in late fall. Oops. Big no no! Then I read this; The Big Hydrangea that Would Not Bloom and I had my answer! Sadly, our bush died that spring. Never returning. Boo!
Now that I know how to care for it, I need to get another. They are just gorgeous. This site also teaches you how to change your pink hydrangeas to blue, or vice versa. Our bush had the periwinkle blooms when I bought it but turned pink after the first few months. I was so disappointed. If I would have added aluminum sulfate to the soil this would help lower the PH level and the blooms would have returned to their original color.
Isn’t that the coolest? The site also advises planting in large containers, this way you can control the PH better through adding compost and having more control over the environment.
I will be returning to this site again and again, hope it helps you with your Hydrangeas too!
